As an important element of their studies, SJR students often take part in overseas visits; as well as being a great deal of fun, these trips give the students a unique insignt into their courses. Here are a few examples:

A group of AS and A2 French students spent their half-term on the first leg of an exchange with the prestigious Lycée David d’Angers in Wigan’s twin town of Angers.

Students at CERN
Physics Visit to CERN

A group of eight Physics students and two members of staff from SJR set off on a three day journey of discovery to CERN, the world’s most iconic scientific research facility in Geneva.  At CERN, the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments are used to study the basic constituents of matter — the fundamental particles. By studying what happens when these particles collide, physicists learn about the laws of nature.

Amsterdam Geography Visit

Staff and students from the SJR Geography department have just returned from a five-day visit to Amsterdam.

Auschwitz Visit

Students from St John Rigby College paid a visit to the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.
Psychology, Sociology and History students took part in the visit which was linked to their A level modules – Psychology of Obedience, Anti-Semitism and Crime and Deviance.  During the visit the students gained a greater insight into the relevant areas of their courses.
