St John Rigby College celebrates the best ever exam results in 2010
St John Rigby College’s students achieved a record 98% pass rate for their Advanced Level courses. This included 29 out of 39 courses having a pass rate of 100%, but the best news for students was that high grade passes (grades A*, A and B) increased by more than 5 %, with many students achieving the new A* grade.
The new Principal, Peter McGhee, said “We are delighted that this group of students has achieved the best ever results for the College. I hope that students are as proud as I am of these achievements. It is fantastic for our staff to be able to share in these celebrations and we know that our students’ hard work over the last two years will have put them in a strong position in a very competitive environment. The improvement in grades being achieved will make a big difference to these young people as they progress.
“There were some outstanding individual achievements with many students gaining top grades in all of their subjects and surpassing target grade expectations. I am so proud to see our students exceeding expectations and achieving top grades.
“People who work in education do so to make a difference to the lives of young people. At St John Rigby College we do this in many different ways and the celebration of their achievements and seeing our students move on in life is the culmination of our work with them. We will work closely with those students who need further support, advice and guidance whilst looking forward to the next group of young people whose aspirations we hope to raise through the education and opportunities we provide.”
