trip to Berlin
The students in Berlin
The students visited many sites of historical significance

In February the History & Psychology Departments took students on a visit to Berlin as part of their studies on Nazi Germany.

On the first day of the visit, students embarked on a walking tour of the centre of Berlin which involved looking at some fascinating historical sites and places of interest including the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial and Checkpoint Charlie. On the second day, students were able to visit Sachsenhausen concentration camp, the Olympic stadium and the villa where the ‘Final Solution’ was planned by the Nazis. On the final day, students were able to examine other areas of interest like one of the last remaining sections of the Berlin Wall and the Stauffenberg memorial where the ending of ‘Valkyrie’ was filmed.

The visit to Berlin, despite the very cold weather(!), proved to be an enjoyable, thought-provoking and memorable experience for both staff and students alike. .
